It's not always about being Trendy; with looking good, simplicity works so K.I.S.S!

I am almost sure if you ask anyone to describe themselves these days they will without a doubt include the word trendy or fashionable. Steupz! You mean BANDWAGONIST! The fashion craze has affected all, everyone's stepping in style. Style being smedium fits, boots and gladiator sandals.

These days everyone wanna start a new trend. Rip your pants is a trend, paint on your shoe is a trend. Fellas sporting Barbie bags, is a trend. WDH! We're living in Trinidad and we've heard many a times the phrases: "she looking bess!!"

But honestly, we've all done a double take on some girl or dude and wondered if they dressed in the dark or confidence made them skip the mirror all together. Sigh.

Not everything that comes ‘in style' you MUST own.

Not everything that comes ‘in style' is FOR you.

How about campaign ‘Regain Your Identity?" Whatever happened to shopping for what you like, and not what everyone else was wearing? And when was the revolution started against matching? I mean, let's all have a quiet rational moment: can purple, red and orange mesh? Uhmm? But nooooo, you is KING PAS-AH-PAS-SAH, and is just level maths with you.

The simple chic has probably gotten a misconception to Trinis - simple dressing is PLAIN - I beg to differ. Simple can mean 2 instead of the 20 bangles you opt ot put on last night or it can mean, black instead of purple jeans dude. Shop staples, wardrobe basics, accessories with personality, unique clothing (not on the front mannequin), funky shoes and handbags and learn the power of CREATIVITY.

Note to self - SELF lets go shopping.

• One skin tight black jeans
• Some creative stylish earrings and bangles
• Stop with the buy one get one half off in de SAME shoes!
• Some chic casual tops
• Dress... yeah we will still splurge on the dress!

For my breddrens: please, please, please... why do you have jeans in every colour of the rainbow. You serious?! With matching belt, sneakers and shades! Wearing a well fitting monochrome or any from the range of blue hued jeans and a striped shirt is club attire, versus the chequered scarf with the tri colour tshirt and those startlingly purplish tights. WOW! Save some of that funds, invest in a full length mirror. Your little sister telling you, you look ‘fly' is not your gateway to being a fashion success.

It doesn't have to be about choosing to be a walking rainbow of style in oversized fendi shades versus blending into the woodwork in black and white.
